A century ago the carlton hotel edinburgh was one of the cities leading department stores, with 4 of its 10 stories below ground level. Centrally located on North Bridge, just around the corner from the Royal Mile, in 1984 this imposing Georgian baronial mansion was converted into a 4 star hotel.

Its Victorian turrets, Flemish gables and severe gray stonework rise from a corner on the Royal Mile, near Waverley Station, a few minutes walk from Princess Street and Edinburgh Castle. Following a major refurbishment in 2000, it is now a 'landmark hotel' - a leading hotel in terms of comfort, quality, design and service, offering more facilities than any other 4 star edinburgh hotel.
