Set in an elegant Victorian mansion in a quiet, leafy, residential neighborhood, the orwell lodge is not far from the Castle and within walking distance of Edinburgh centre (about a mile, it is also on a main bus route).

Each of the 10 bedrooms (all located on the first and second floors and only accessible by stairs) are traditional in decor and finished to a three star standard, with a tea / coffee tray, TV, hair dryer and telephone.

The orwell lodge hotel has a restaurant and a spacious pub style bar (which is popular with locals and visitors) with an extensive menu and a good selection of whiskies. The hotel is also the scene of several unexplained 'occurrences', which include the sighting of a mysterious old silver lady, thought to be a maid who used to work in the house!

Continue until Princes Street; from the west end of Princes Street head north up Lothian Road following the signs for the A702 until you reach Tollcross, then take the right hand lane continuing to follow the A702 into Home Street. At the second set of traffic lights (with the Kings Theatre on your left) turn right into Lower Gilmore Place. Follow the road through 2 sets of traffic lights, over a mini roundabout and into Polwarth Gardens. Continue straight into Polwarth Terrace, the hotel is on the left before the traffic lights (opposite the church).
